The Congregational Church of Excelsior Endowment Fund is a 501c(3) non-profit fund corporation established for the sole purpose of generating a long-term revenue stream to support the building and grounds of the Congregational Church of Excelsior.
Mission
The Fund’s mission is to accumulate capital from gifts, bequests and memorials that will generate interest from investments to be primarily distributed back to the Congregational Church of Excelsior. The accumulation of this capital is to be preserved to work in perpetuity.
Investment Strategy
All capital funds will be invested with the goal of preservation of capital. Therefore, investments derived from the capital account are restricted to no risk/low risk investments such as certificates of deposit, U,S, Treasury notes, bonds m or other safe investment instruments.
Any additional funds generated from the capital account according to the formula specified in the charter may be invested more aggressively,
The financial manager of the capital account will endeavor to structure the investments to that one or more mature iat approximately one-year intervals. This structure enhances liquidity and provides a regular distribution of gains back to the church.
Fund Structure
The recommended structure of the fund will initially consist of four accounts once the accumulated capital reaches the minimum $300,000 threshold.
- The main capital account in which funds are accumulated in perpetuity and invested in no risk investments.
- A Distribution clearing account in which 80% of any interest earned from the capital account will be deposited until requested by the Congregational Church of Excelsior Board of Trustees for the churches building budget.
- A growth investment account into which 20% of any interest earned from the capital account will be invested in more aggressive investments.
- 4 A checking account to be used to pay any fund expenses and to clear cash for distribution.
Vision
At some point in the future, a substantial part or entire cost of sustaining the building and grounds of the Congregational Church of Excelsior be covered by investment returns from the Endowment Fund.
